There are currently about 80,000 chemicals on the TSCA Inventory (i.e. legally allowed to be in commerce in the US) and of those 80,000; there is a large percentage of natural chemicals listed (water and salt are listed, for instance). It would have been more appropriate to verify this fact with EPA rather than the NRDC. Also, only a handful have been tested? The testing performed under the EPA's High Production Volume voluntary program produced a full set of health testing for what accounts for 90% of the chemicals in commerce today based on volume. It is also untrue to state no chemicals have been tested for synergistic effects - how else would pharmaceutical companies know how and what drugs interact with one another?
