I am unrelated to the other Nathan posting here. I must say it's very heartening to see so many good Americans willing to defend him. Of course, he probably just considers this a free advertisement to be honest (chuckle). Glenn probably has to be the second most attacked American, the first being Sarah Palin. This isn't an attack, which I am glad for, but does work to shift focus off of beck's point. He wasn't objecting to the viewpoint on his show, though he probably would willingly at any time, but was more concerned with the fact this shown in schools and treated as fact. Anyone left or right, should agree to that as the economics in this video are generalized, sketchy, and incomplete. For example, one misleading fact is the statistic that we have very few of our original forests left in the USA. That's true, we do have less original forests, but the key word is original. This is misleading because we actually have more forests than ever, they just aren't ORIGINAL forests. It's technically true, but is meant to mislead.

Want a real documentary, try "The Revolutionary Holocaust: Live free... Or Die". It was fact checked by politico and was found to be 100% accurate. It's historic documentaries that truly help us learn, as all knowledge today is based on mistakes of the past.

please people, it doesnt matter if your democrat or republican or whatever...ive read alot of the comments and most of them have been whining saying Story of Stuff is pure garbage, that its false. Prove it.
if done some research on man made global warming, and i think its absolutely bogus, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt recycle or try to preserve our natural resources. whats wrong with trying to convince people to be more green, and trying to teach kids how to be green? nothing. Now, she does throw in a bit of political (leftist) remarks here and there, but you're missing the main point of the vid. to be green. If you can say, "Being green is terrible, why should we ever do it?" than thats your wish. 99% of people want o be green, and thats what the overall point of the video is. So please stop saying that this is garbage, and shouldnt be shown to childre, because im sure that if you look past your political bias, or any other bias for that matter, you'll agree with the overall point of the vid.

Ayubowan! from Sri Lanka

By the way Ayubowan our greeting in Sri Lanka means ‘may all living beings on earth have longlife’;not just you or me…

I am a Buddhist .. and the Bhuddist way of life has it that we be not driven by greed but work on shunning it. But the dominant western based culture that gave us the consumerist models, have it that ‘greed is good’ and having choice within the free price driven economy (market) is the ideal system. The majority of the world had beleived this for centuries and continues to beleive it. Climate change and global warming are the outcomes of this failed belief system.

Cap and trade as I call it is the ‘Pin-Puw’ scheme meaning ‘Merit-Sin’. This is the latest gimmick of the ’sunshine industries’ and you have got it spot on in the movie ‘Cap & Trade’. What Cap and trade is to me is;’You do good and aquire merit, I buy that merit off you for money to sin with it’. What a satanic innovation by those who made the mess in the first place..

It is time that the west looked at Buddhist economics… Mahatma Gandhi’s saying ‘ there is enough on this earth to meet every one’s needs, but not everyones greed’. Thai king has articulated this Bhuddhist thinking as ‘Sufficiency Economics’

We need new thinking, innovative ways and most of all selfless and greedless schemes that are designed to save the world, not schemes that are designed to make money for those who claim to save the world.

More strength to fresh approches and a new paradigm..

From the Indian Ocean island nation of Sri Lanka

I'd like to point out to Jon H. that most "thinking mistakes" are what led us to where we are today. Without the free will to go against "conventional wisdom" we wouldn't have many inventions, like electricity and teflon.

Socialism has never worked in any society you would have to be an imbecile to think that brainwashing children was going to change that. You should realize that your liberal views are what got us into the mess where in today.

If I had kids, I would absolutely let my children watch this.

You have successfully provided simple, clear examples of almost every form of manipulation, thinking mistake, propaganda, and bias that the media, politicians, and advertising industry use in a more sophisticated way daily.

I hope that you succeed in getting wide distribution in the education system. What a great critical thinking primer this would be! You have created a video that even an 8 year could deconstruct.

Perhaps then, there wouldn't be so many adults who are so easily misled.
